Susan E. D. Doughty, the owner and co-founder...
...of New England WomenCenter, has been in practice for over thirty years. Susan is a national expert and guest-lecturer on menopause and has extensive background with cardiovascular patients. She has published on the topics of menopause, pacemakers, nurse-managed health centers, and advanced practice nursing. She is a graduate of Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania and the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Her graduate nursing degrees are from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Boston College. She is nationally certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and on the scientific advisory board of the American Menopause Foundation.   Susan is an avid reader and enjoys sailing, kayaking and singing. She is married and the mother of two adult children.


Marcia Owens, RN, Head Nurse
Marcia has been an integral part of NEWC for the past five years and is a graduate of The Memorial Hospital in Rhode Island.  She has worked in Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, Planned Parenthood and spent 14 years as an Occupational Health Nurse.  Marcia enjoys travel and sewing.


Cathy Dickenson, RN
A graduate of Newton Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing in Newton, MA, Cathy has worked in Labor and Delivery and Newborn Nursery for many years.  She has also worked for 18 years doing home IV Therapy.  Cathy has been at NEWC since 1998 and in her spare times enjoys travel, yoga/meditation, family, friends and being a grandmother.


Gail Cinelli, RN
Gail received her RN, BSN degree from Texas Woman's University and Texas Medical Center.  She spent 20 years in general hospital nursing and held the positions of Childbirth Educator in an OB/GYN office and Hemophilia Nurse Coordinator.  She most recently served as Executive Director of the Center for Greiving Children.  Her interests  include tai-chi, qigong and yoga and has been with the NEWC family for one year.


Cynthia Cloutier, Practice Manager
Cynthia started her business career as a young woman creating and selling several businesses.  With her late husband she formed the Waterville Music Theatre, a professional summer stock company where she served as Artistic Director and Business Manager.  While in Waterville, she headed the accounts receivable department of a multi-lawyer firm and after moving to Texas, she worked for American Airlines where she held the position of assistant to the vice-president of Training & Consulting.  Cynthia has been Practice Manager at NEWC since 2004.  Weekends find her spending time with two very special grandsons.


Barbara Cousens, Reception
After working in a variety of positions in the medical community in Boston and Portland, Barbara became acquainted with Susan and became an integral part of the initial structure of New England WomenCenter.  She served as the organizations first receptionist and after taking time off to travel the world aboard a container ship NEWC feels fortunate to have her back at the front desk with the phone to her ear and a smile on her face!


Shirley Doughty, Chief Volunteer
Having held secretarial and Administrative Assistant positions for over 50 years, Shirley retired and decided to come to "work" volunteering at NEWC founded by her daughter-in-law, Susan.  Married for 60 years to the Reverend William Doughty, they have three children and four grandchildren.  Shirley believes that "working with the wonderful staff at NEWC and meeting the great patients are the things that keep me "young."


Marie Harrison, Reception
Marie has held the position of secretary in the railroad and insurance industries and spent over 15 years as a medical transcriptionist for several health organizations in the greater Portland area.  Marie joined NEWC a year ago and finds herself busy with receptionist and  varied administrative duties.  When not at the office, Marie creates beautiful jewelry and knits articles she shares with a delighted staff!
